Alumni Hit Gold, Bronze in Vietnam Archery Grand Prix

Three alumni of Silliman University made the country proud after winning gold and bronze medals in the 2nd Asian Archery Grand Prix held late last month in Vietnam.

Jennifer Chan and Joan Chan-Tabanag were two of three members of the Philippine Women’s archery team who received a gold medal each for the team event compound category.

Chan also won a bronze each in two other categories: individual compound and mix team compound.

Another alumnus, Mark Javier, was part of the Philippine Archery team in Vietnam.  Javier was the lone Filipino archer in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Archery is one of the known sports in Silliman, having produced athletes who have won for the country in several international tournaments. It was at Silliman last year where archery was pushed to be included in the lineup of sports events of the national University Games.
