Prince of Songkla University Explores Partnership with SU

A delegation of 11 administrative and academic officers of Prince of Songkla University (PSU) in Thailand was on an exploratory visit to Silliman University on February 26.

They were welcomed by members of the Silliman Administration, headed by President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III, and their academic counterparts in the Univeresity.

Discussion focused on opportunities of collaboration in the areas of faculty and staff exchange, graduate studies management, and research. On the same visit, a team from the delegation conducted an interview with three Silliman faculty members who had applied for doctorate studies on a scholarship at PSU.

Established in 1967, PSU is one of Thailand’s research universities that consistent ranks among the top ten in the country. It is the first university in Southern Thailand, named by King Bhumibol Adulyadej after his father, His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol Adulyadej, the Prince of Songkla.

The PSU delegation was composed of Dr. Teerapol Srichana (Dean of Graduate School), Dr. Urai Hatthakit (Associate Dean of Graduate School for Student Affairs and International Relations), Assoc. Prof. Wanchai Dhammasaccakarn (Director of Master’s Program in Human and Social Science Development), Dr. Surakrai Permkam (Associate Dean of Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies), Dr. Ekkarit Gaewprapun (Director of Doctorate Program in Management), Dr. Anchana Prathep (Associate Dean of Faculty for Research and Graduate Studies), Dr. Sukree Hadjisamae (Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology), Dr. Taewee Tongdang Karrila (Associate Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology for Research and Graduate Studies), Dr. Prawit Towantana (Director of Marine and Coastal Resources Institute), Dr. Umaporn Boonyasopun (Associate Dean of Faculty of Nursing for Research and Graduate Studies) and Ms Panattha Hirunsalee (Graduate School staff).
