Ninth Grader to Represent Philippines in Archery in Russia

An incoming ninth grader will be among the country’s delegates to the 6th Child of Asia International Sports Competition in Yakutsk, Russia in July.

The Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympics Committee selected Nicole Marie D. Tagle following her consistent high performance in national archery competitions.

During the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa (National Games), she clinched two gold and five silver. A year earlier, a regional paper described her as a “Hawkeye”, citing her sharp determination and strong potential as she reaped gold in a national archery tournament.

In 2011, she was also awarded as the Youngest Lady Shooter during the Asia-Pacific GLOCK Invitational Shootfest, commended by the Cebu Pistol and Rifle Association (CPRA) for her “form” and “precision”.

Archery is one of the most celebrated sports in the University. Silliman has produced a total of three Olympians in archery: Jennifer Chan, Lisa Ygnalaga and Mark Javier.
