Graduate Programs Dean Receives CHED Award

Graduate Programs Dean Dr. Enrique G. Oracion was among 11 recipients of the REPUBLICA (Research and Publications) qualifiers award under the humanities, social sciences, teacher education and business category from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

He received the qualifier award on July 26 from CHED Commissioner Dr. Patricia Licuanan. The winner of the REPUBLICA Award was selected from among 11 qualifiers.

Dr. Oracion was selected for his research on “Mining or Tourism: The Development Preference of Settlers Along Pagatban River in Negros Oriental”. This article was published in the Social Science Diliman journal of the University of the Philippines.

The next day, Dr. Oracion and College of Education Dean also presented their joint paper titled “The Self-Reported Health Quality of Waste Management Workers of Bayawan City in Negros Oriental” at a national research conference in Manila. Their work was an output of the multidisciplinary research program of Silliman University funded by the CHED-Philippine Higher Education Research Network.
