Sillimanian gets Honorable Mention in National Essay Writing Tilt

A former student of the Silliman University College of Law is among the 13 awardees of the 2015 Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) Essay Writing Contest.

Darrel Winthrop G. Torres, who represented Silliman with his essay “Doubt the great Haze”, is among the honorable mentions announced by PALS on November 25.

Ma. Vida Malaya Villarico of Polytechnic University of the Philippines bagged the top prize with her essay, “Braving the Unventured: Mapping Out the Future of Legal Education”. The awarding ceremonies will be on November 30 at the Philippine Judicial Academy Training Center in Tagaytay City.

PALS is a non-stock corporation composed of 112 law schools. It is legal education’s formal representative to the Judicial and Bar Council, the Philippine Judicial Academy, the Supreme Court Committee on Legal Education and Bar Matters, and the Legal Education Board.
