Faith Worker Leads Training for Resumption of Peace Talks

A Presbyterian missionary connected with the Divinity School facilitated a Visayas-wide workshop aimed at generating a collective call for the resumption of peace talks between the Philippine government and the National Democratic Front (NDF).

Mr. Cobbie Palm led the “Trainers Workshop” on April 8 to 12 in Cebu City. Participants were key representatives from different sectors who are committed to cascading in the different communities the campaign for the resumption of peace talks.

Initiated by the Philippine Ecumenical Peace Platform (PEPP), the workshop is conducted in different parts of the country. It seeks to provide a better perspective of the issues involved, solicit support and create a national movement for the two parties to return to formal negotiations.

The Justice and Peace Center of the Divinity School continues to be a partner of PEPP, an aggrupation of five church federations: Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches, National Council of Churches in the Philippines, Ecumenical Bishops Forum and the Association of Major Religious Superiors Philippines.
