CELTA (Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Assessment) of Silliman University College of Education is the training and outreach arm of the College for more than 8 years now. In its existence it has served more than 15,000 teachers and students across Negros Oriental and beyond.

CELTA with its partner organization STONES (Student Teachers of NEgros and Siquijor) primarily caters to students with lesser income who are enrolled in teacher education programs from public and private colleges and universities in Negros Oriental and Siquijor. Moreover CELTA promotes excellence in instruction, research, and service-learning among the faculty of these learner institutions as well as Silliman Universities’ academic community.

Mission

SU-CELTA advocates innovative practices for excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment

SU-CELTA influences pre-service and in-service teaching practices in the public and private K12 and tertiary educational institutions particularly Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) within the Center for Excellence in teacher Education (COETE) network

Goals

Su-CELTA willl Conceptualize, organize, implement, and evaluate continuing education programs for student teachers and public and private school teachers within the COETE network

Coordinate with appropriate agencies in identifying expertise and best practices that may be shared by teachers in the COETE network and the private and public school system

Support appropriate offices and centers of the University in terms of expertise for the enhancement of teaching-learning processes

Publish exemplary classroom practices and innovative ideas for the improvement of learning, teaching, and assessment

Assist the SU faculty in designing, creating, implementing, and evaluating innovative teaching-learning processes through effective instruction, assessment, the conduct of action research, and the sharing of best pedagogical practices, in coordination with the appropriate offices and centers of the University
