Alumni Update November 23 – 29, 2020

It was a joyous and reflective Thanksgiving celebration for the Silliman Alumni Dumaguete Chapter officers last November 26, 2020 at the lovely home of Rolando Venturanza Magdamo and gracious wife Helga Vogt Magdamo. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Dumaguete Alumni Chapter was successful in launching its project at the Silliman University Heritage Museum, which is the Laura Hibbard Heritage Room, last August 10, 2020, in celebration of the historic arrival of the Silliman University’s powerful founding parents, David and Laura Hibbard. The Dumaguete Chapter hopes to showcase American missionaries that have contributed to the rich heritage of Silliman. Currently, the chapter is working on a James W. Chapman Heritage Room. A series of fundraising activities to realize the project has been lined up, which included a plant sale held last November 14 and 21, 2020. The Chapter will again hold another plant sale scheduled on December 12, 2020 at the same location, at the Silliman University Gate of Service, facing the Dumaguete Pier, from 8 AM – 5 PM. Alumni and the Dumaguete community are all welcome to this markdown plant sale.
