Alumni Updates November 14 – 20, 2016
It was an early Christmas Party for the Silliman University Alumni Association – Alberta Chapter on November 12, 2016 which was held at the Philippine Cultural Centre Foundation in Calgary, Alberta. The gathering also served as the chapter’s Annual General Membership Meeting and Election of Officers. The newly elected officers for 2017-2018 are: Jan Ray Moncada – president, Hanzel Somoza – vice president, Brenda Duran – treasurer, Nina Nuñez – secretary, Genevieve Liclican – auditor and Jessman Araujo – PRO.
The holiday season is just around the corner and Sillimanians around the world are gearing up to celebrate it. The Silliman University Alumni Association (SUAA) chapters of Ireland, United Kingdom, New York-New Jersey and San Diego will each hold their Christmas party on December 3, 2016.
For the Ireland/Northern Ireland Christmas party and General Assembly Meeting, it will start at 12nn and the venue will be at the St. Vincent de Paul Centre, Belfast. For more information, check out the chapter’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/279565228819414/.
Likewise, the New York-New Jersey alumni chapter’s Christmas party venue will be at The Westwood 438 North Avenue Garwood, New Jersey from 12nn to 4pm. For details, e-mail Laura Garcia at [email protected].
The United Kingdom Alumni chapter’s way of celebrating Christmas is by holding an afternoon tea at the Fortnum & Mason (181 Piccadilly, London W1A 1ER). It will be a special one as Fortnum & Mason’s head pastry chef, Scott Stewart A. Villacora, is a Sillimanian.
Scott is a champion in delivering British tradition with a twist. He finished high school at Silliman in 1996 and obtained his degree in Management from the University in 2001. He later received his Diploma in Culinary Arts at the Philippine School of Culinary Arts and his Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking NVQ 2 at the City and Guilds of London Institute.

The Silliman University Alumni & Friends @ San Diego’s Christmas Party-Dinner Dance and Induction of Chapter Officers will be on December 3, 2016, 6pm at the MCAS Officers’ Club at Miramar Base, 4472 Anderson Ave., San Diego.
Silliman University Alumni Council of North America (SUACONA) President Betsy A. Jackson will be the Inducting Officer and Guest Speaker during the gathering. Newly elected officers for 2017-2019 are: Louella Dolar-Perrin – president, Miriam Cole – vice president, Grace Tan – Secretary, Allen Garrido – Treasurer and John Bandalla – auditor.
