VPAA Tan, Psych Dep’t Chair Attend ACUCA Confab in Taiwan

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Betsy Joy B. Tan and Psychology Department Faculty Asst. Prof. Rogen Ferdinand E. Alcantara participated in the Biennial Conference and 20th General Assembly of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia (ACUCA) jointly hosted October 24 to 26 by Fu Jen Catholic University and Aletheia University in Taiwan.

This year's conference focused on “Values Education: A Vital Constituent for Successful Education in the 21st Century.” Plenary and parallel sessions offered three major perspectives of values education: ethical education, character education and spiritual education.

Keynoting the event were Prof. Michael J. Garanzini, S.J., president of Loyola University Chicago and Secretary for Higher Education for the Society of Jesus, and Prof. Andrew Wright, Professor of Religious and Theological Education at King's College London.

Silliman is one of the founding members of the ACUCA, an association which is now composed of 57 institutions from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines.
