ADVISORY 1: Precautionary Measures for Typhoon #RubyPH

ADVISORY 1: Precautionary Measures for Typhoon #RubyPH

Issued at 4PM, December 3, 2014

Silliman University is planning for precautionary measures as early as now, in the event that typhoon Ruby hits Central Visayas. This is done, even as PAGASA has still to confirm the final track of the storm.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni are encouraged to continue monitoring for updates on both University website, www.su.edu.ph, and Facebook page, www.facebook.com/SillimanUniversity. We also urge everyone to be guided accordingly by advisories issued by PAGASA.

The University observes the same protocol for cancellation of classes: (a) Negros Oriental under Signal No. 1 — No classes for Early Childhood and Elementary; (b) Negros Oriental under Signal No. 2 — No classes for Early Childhood, Elementary and High School; (c) Negros Oriental under Signal No. 3 — No classes for Early Childhood, Elementary, High School and College, and no work for faculty and staff. Any adjustment to this protocol will be issued officially on the website and Facebook page and through the local tri-media.

Evacuation plan is also in place. This includes identification of buildings on campus where students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community may seek temporary shelter. Requests for transfers must be communicated in advance (A list of point persons will be issued in another advisory.).

Our Continuing Calamity Response Program Team is also on standby. This is to ensure quick response to requests for rescue and related needs for assistance.

Let us all be one in preparing for a storm that might hit us. And let us be one in prayer and continue to find strength in the Lord. ###
