Bisaya Song “Pagya” Bags Top Prize in Valentine Songwriting Contest

A song in Bisaya, the local dialect in Dumaguete, wowed the crowd and judges during the 2018 Valentine Songwriting Competition (VSC), earning its composer the top prize.

Renemar Sedilles, a Social Work junior, was named champion for his song “Pagya”, which can loosely be translated in English to “being matched”. He received a cash prize and a trophy on Valentine’s Day, the night of the competition held at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium.

Best Interpretation went to Eric Duhaylungsod for his song, “Aking Reyna”, while Patrick Miguel Suzon won Best Arrangement for the song “What Might Be”, which was composed by fellow Silliman students Raymund Facturan and Clan Porganillas.
