Indigenous Worship, Music Workshop Slated May

The Divinity School (DS) is organizing a workshop on Indigenous Worship and Music on May 24 to 27.

It will pull together some 25 scholars and teachers in theology from select member schools of the Association of Theological Education in Southeast Asia.

There will be four major topics: “Indigenous Spiritualities and Theology in Relation to Liturgy” by DS faculty Dr. Lope Robin, “Indigenization of Worship in the Protestant Tradition” by Dr. Ferdinand Anno of the Union Theological Seminary-Philippines, “The Art of Composing Liturgical and Indigenous Hymn/Lyric Writing Techniques by Filipino composer Mr. Joy Nilo, and “The Role of Christian Education in the Indigenization of Liturgy” by DS Dean Rev. Dr. Jeaneth H. Faller.

Participants are expected to come from Central Philippine University, St. Andrews Seminary, Asian Theological Seminary, Union Theological Seminary, Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary, Southern Christian College and Silliman University.
