President Malayang Attends ACUCA Mgt Conference in Chiang Mai; Meets with Alumni

Silliman President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III attended both Executive Committee (ExeCom) meeting and Management Conference of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia (ACUCA), hosted October 19 to 21 by Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Dr. Malayang is the Philippine representative in the eight-country ACUCA ExeCom, which is composed of university presidents. He concurrently sits as vice president of ACUCA. In 2019, Silliman will take on the presidency of ACUCA following a rotation arrangement.

Coinciding with the ExeCom was the conference themed “Exploring the Relationship of Religion, Culture, and Peace in Christian Higher Education.” The conference gathered a larger group of around 60 representatives from different ACUCA member universities from Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines.

Joining Dr. Malayang was Director of Information and Publications Mr. Mark Raygan E. Garcia and Mrs. Gladys Rio-Malayang.

During the same period of the conference, Dr. Malayang also met with some alumni who are based in Chaing Mai. They were Luis Manuel Pascual, Mary Louise Pascual, JP Utzurrum and Joy Utzurrum. All are working as foreign teachers at Prince Royal’s College.
