(L-R) Dr. Earl Jude Paul L. Cleope, SU vice president for Academic Affairs; Dr. Betsy Joy B. Tan, ACSCU-ACI president; Dr. Beulah Rose R. Torres, SU Office of Instruction (OI) director; and Mr. Bernie Z. Aranas, OI office assistant.

The Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities-Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU-ACI) has granted Silliman University (SU) an Institutional Re-accreditation Status for 5 years, from April 2019 until April 2023. Institutional Accreditation or Re-accreditation is the highest accreditation award ACSCU can give to an institution.

Dr. Earl Jude Paul L. Cleope, SU vice president for Academic Affairs, received the award with Dr. Beulah Rose R. Torres, Office of Instruction (OI) director and OI Office Assistant Bernie Z. Aranas during the 34th ACSCU-ACI National Assembly held May 23 at the Blulane Hotel, Manila.

In awarding the Institutional Re-accreditation Status to Silliman University, ACSCU-ACI recognizes the university’s “continuing commitment to the Ideals of Voluntary Accreditation as evidenced by the high level of program accreditation; for its long tradition of excellence in the areas of instruction, research, community service, high performance of its graduates in licensure examinations, and for having an effective internal quality assurance mechanism.”

ACSCU-ACI, formerly ACSCU-AAI (Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities-Accrediting Agency, Inc.), is one of only three accrediting agencies for private education institutions in the Philippines recognized by the Commission on Higher Education. It assesses and updates the quality of higher education based on a set of standards that involves both internal review and an independent external evaluation of its member institutions.
