SU Pres., VPs visit BRP Tarlac

Dr. Betty Cernol-McCann, Silliman University (SU) president, went aboard the Philippine Navy’s BRP Tarlac (LD-601) when it was docked at the Dumaguete City Port last June 12 during the ship’s open house in celebration of the 121st Philippine Independence Day. Cdr. Norman A. Mutia, commanding officer of BRP Tarlac, welcomed Dr. McCann and her husband, Dr. Dennis Patrick McCann. Dr. Earl Jude Paul L. Cleope, SU vice president for academic affairs, and Dr. Jenny L. Chiu, SU vice president for finance and administration, was also welcomed by Cdr. Mutia during their visit last June 13.

The BRP Tarlac arrived in Dumaguete City last June 10 for the return of the 11th Infantry “Lapu-Lapu” Battalion (11IB) of the Philippine Army in Central Visayas after being assigned in Mindanao for almost three years, according to a report from the Philippine News Agency.
