SUHS Class of 1958 breaks ground for “Mini Amphitheater Project”

The Silliman University High School (SUHS) Class of 1958 recently held a Ground Breaking Ceremony for the development of a “Mini Amphitheater Project,” last August 23, 2024, at the back of the Worcester Cottage, SU Junior High School grounds.

This new project, designed to accommodate overflow from the Chapel/Prayer Room—also donated by SUHS Class of ’58 in 2019—will feature 50 concrete benches, providing comfortable seating for up to 150 Junior High School students.

A check for P178,500.00 from the SUHS Class of 1958 was recently presented to Glynnis Jean C. Casiño, officer-in-charge for Strategic Partnerships, covering the cost of 50 concrete benches. In addition, Mr. Louie Tijing, General Manager of Philsouth, donated 100 cubic meters of backfill material, while Engr. Oliver Sobere Go Yu pledged his company’s labor to transport the fill material to the site. The work will include compacting and leveling the ground for the construction of the “Mini Amphitheater.”

This SUHS Class of 1958 project hopes to accommodate the overflow from the 80-capacity chapel with the 50 concrete benches when installed soon.
