Architecture Students Bag Awards in United Architects National Student Congress

Architecture students from the College of Engineering and Design bagged multiple awards during the 25th United Architects of the Philippines-Student Auxiliary (UAPSA) Congress held May 10 to 12 in Iloilo City.

Three won first place: John Victor Gonzaga (fifth year) in the structural design competition, Vea Kryza Nuñez (fifth year) in the quiz bowl, and Aki Shirabe in leadership development.  Second placers were Katrina Jarapa Teves (fourth year) and Jane Marie Abiquibil (fifth year) in the quiz bowl, and Deborah Ruth Espiritu (fourth year) in leadership development. Clinching the third spot were Akita Joy Caslata (fifth year) in the body painting category, and Mae Francis Miguel (fifth year) instructural design.

Gonzaga, Nuñez, Shirabe, Esperitu, Caslata and Miguel were teamed up with architecture students from other universities in the different competitions.

Completing the delegation from Silliman were fourth year students Leo Jardin, Kharl Alcoriza, Ian Lord Tagaro and Vince Bellosillo, and fifth year students Robert Banse, Misaki Shirabe, Akita Joy Casalta, John Victor Gonzaga, Vea Kryza Nuñez and Mae Francis Miguel.

UAPSA is an arm and a junior partner of the United Architects of the Philippines – Integrated and Accrediting Professional Organizaiton of Achitects. It seeks to motivate and instill discipline among architectural students, and promote the goals and aspirations of all architects.
