NMAT to be administered online

The National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) will be administered online, according to the Center for Educational Measurement (CEM) Inc. in a letter sent to Dr. Walden R. Ursos, Silliman University Medical School dean.

The final dates for the online NMAT will be announced by July 20.

CEM will first pilot test its new procedures and systems for the online NMAT in July 2020. With favorable pilot test results, the schedule for the NMAT will be as follows:

  1. Administration of online NMAT will be from August 10-20 for the batch of examinees who had been scheduled to take the test in March/April 2020; lead time is necessary so as to provide enough time for informing examinees of their assigned test schedules and so they can familiarize themselves with the technical requirements of the platform.
  2. Results will be posted online on August 28-31 to provide sufficient time to establish norms for the test as it is the first time to administer in this mode.
  3. E-copy of results released online to serve as official copies when validated by medical schools; medical schools will be provided e-copies of the master list to enable them to validate the authenticity of the results presented by medical applicants as soon as results are posted.

CEM said they decided to hold the NMAT online due to the challenges and risks of administering large-scale examinations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
