SU commemorates the116th death anniversary ofDr. Horace B. Silliman

Silliman University marked the 116th death anniversary of Dr. Horace Brinsmade Silliman on May 4, 2026, with a simple commemorative ceremony and floral offering held in front of his bust, honoring the life and legacy of the institution’s founder.

The activity was organized by the Silliman University Alumni and External Affairs Office, led by Director Ruben N. Bokingo.

Present at the event were members of the SU administration led by Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, SU president, and Dr. Lily Ann D. Bautista, vice president for Academic Affairs and Research. Members of the SU alumni also graced the ceremony, including Atty. Pristine M. Raymond, SAAI-Dumaguete Chapter president.

Silliman died on May 4, 1910, nine years after the establishment of the Silliman Institute, which all began with a gift of $10,000 he donated to its founding.
