SU junior student wins multiple awards in nat’l sportsfest

Kacie Gabrielle Marcelino Tionko, a Grade X student at the Silliman University Junior High School, won five medals in the different swimming events of the Batang Pinoy 2023 National Championship held in Metro Manila on December 17-22, 2023.

Representing Negros Oriental, Tionko won gold in the 200m Individual Medley, gold in the 400m Freestyle, silver in the 100m Freestyle, bronze in the 800m Freestyle, and bronze in the 400m Individual Medley.

The Batang Pinoy is a national sports competition program of the Philippine Sports Commission, which aims to develop the athleticism of the youth.

Tionko has been chosen to be a part of the National Team to represent the Philippines at the Asian Juniors Age Championship in February 2024.
