SU to grant 10 new full scholarships yearly, sustain 40 scholars

Silliman University (SU) will launch a new scholarship program in School Year 2027–2028, providing full scholarships to 10 incoming first-year students who graduate among the top two of their respective Senior High School classes.

The University’s Board of Trustees (BOT) approved an appropriation for a Scholarship Endowment Fund, with income generated from the fund to support the full scholarships on a continuing basis.

Under the program, 10 new scholars will be admitted each year. By the fourth year of implementation, approximately 40 students across four year levels will be studying at Silliman under the scholarship. From the fifth year onward, as one batch graduates and another 10 scholars enter, the program is envisioned to sustain around 40 scholars at any given time.

Each scholarship will cover tuition and other fees, board, and lodging for a four-year undergraduate degree, providing substantial support to academically outstanding students throughout their college education.

The endowment model is intended to make the scholarship program sustainable. Income generated by the fund will be appropriated to support successive batches of scholars while preserving the fund as a continuing source of financial assistance.

The new program further expands the range of scholarships already available to incoming first-year students at Silliman. These scholarships have varying qualifications based on academic achievement, financial need, place of residence, intended degree program, and other criteria. Benefits range from partial tuition assistance to full tuition and miscellaneous fees, stipends, book allowances, and board and lodging.

Through the new scholarship program, Silliman strengthens its commitment to widening access to a University education while recognizing outstanding academic achievement among Senior High School graduates.

Details on the application and selection process for the 10 scholarship slots will be announced separately.
