SU to host 61st PGCA Midyear Conference on October 22–23

Silliman University (SU) will host the 61st Midyear Conference of the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association, Inc. (PGCA) on October 22–23, 2026, bringing together guidance counselors, psychologists, psychometricians, social workers, educators, and other helping professionals from across the country.

Organized by the PGCA in partnership with SU and the PGCA Negros-Siquijor Local Chapter, the national conference will carry the theme, “The Global Helping Professional: Images. Realities. Aspirations.”

The two-day gathering will provide a platform for helping professionals to exchange knowledge, examine emerging challenges in their respective fields, and explore innovative approaches to counseling, psychological services, education, and mental health.

As host institution, SU will welcome delegates to its historic campus in Dumaguete City, providing an academic setting for professional development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and discussions on the evolving roles of helping professionals in a changing global environment.

Founded in 1901, Silliman is the first American-founded university in Asia. Its longstanding commitment to holistic education and community service provides a fitting backdrop for a conference that emphasizes professional competence, resilience, leadership, and holistic wellness.

The conference will feature keynote addresses, plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and discussions facilitated by local and national experts. These activities are designed to promote evidence-based and culturally responsive practices while encouraging participants to share experiences and develop professional networks.

The gathering will also highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among professionals working in counseling, psychology, education, and social services, particularly in responding to the increasingly complex needs of individuals and communities.

Aside from the conference sessions, participants will have the opportunity to experience Dumaguete City’s cultural heritage, hospitality, and natural attractions.
