University Christian Life Emphasis Month Begins January 26

The University Christian Life Emphasis Month for this second semester is celebrated from January 26 to February 24, guided by theme:  “Act Justly, Always Do What is Right”.

UCLEM formally opens with a launching and commissioning worship service at the Silliman University Church on January 26. Delivering the sermon is Prof. Carlos Magtolis, Jr., chair of the University Spiritual Life Council (USLC) and concurrently Dean of the Office of Student Services.

This semester’s UCLEM theme is based on two Biblical texts: Psalm 106:3 “Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right”; and Micah 6:8: “He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Different faith-nurturing activities are lined up involving students, faculty, staff and alumni. Much-awaited is the Galilean Fellowship where families on and off campus host students in their homes and lead them in group reflections.

UCLEM is celebrated twice in a school year under the supervision of the USLC and the Silliman University Church Team Ministry. It is one of the major events in the academic calendar pursued in promotion of the “faith” component in Silliman’s tri-logical ministry of teaching, healing and proclaiming.
