SU-ROTC Remains Region’s Best; Cadet Wins Nat’l Speech Tilt

The Silliman University Reserved Officers’ Training Corps (SU-ROTC) Unit was recently adjudged overall champion in the Regional Annual Administrative Performance Evaluation (RAAPE), garnering 98.88 per cent, higher than its rating in the previous year.  Image

This is the second consecutive year that the SU-ROTC was declared regional champion.

SU-ROTC Commandant Corporal Carlito L. Villanueva was also awarded Best ROTC Commandant and Administrative Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. This, along with other individual distinctions that the Unit received: Best in ROTC Administration, Best in Method of Instructions (MOI), Best in First Aid, and the Fastest in Assembling and Disassembling of M16 Riffle and Caliber 45 pistol.

Meanwhile, SU-ROTC cadet Juri Nazareth M. Ochotorena, a first year Medical Technology major, bagged the championship trophy in the national speech competition sponsored by the National Philippine Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. The competition was held March 8 at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Command and General Staff College in Camp Aguinaldo.

Ochotorena bested 19 other cadets from other universities in the country with his piece that touched on the theme:  “ROTC: Helping Build a Strong, Self-reliant and Credible Armed Force”.
