3 Officers Attend Resource Dev’t Workshop in Hong Kong

Vice President for Development Prof. Jane Annette L. Belarmino headed a team from the Development Division at the Strategic Planning and Resource Development Workshop held for three days at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Professor Belarmino was with Institutional Advancement Officer Mr. Jose Mari Jonathan Antonio and Dr. Christopher Ablan, the liaison officer on United Board for Christian Higher Education (UBCHEA) matters.

The workshop focused on enhancing the capability of Asian Christian universities in fundraising and resource development. It also presented case studies and had discussions on the critical considerations of academic institutions in their strategic positioning in the ASEAN region. There was also a session that offered an insight on how proposals, particularly to the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA), can increase their chances at securing funding.

Silliman is a recipient of an ASHA grant of US$500,000 for its virtual simulation laboratory project. The project provides for purchase of equipment, including human patient and other robotic simulators, critical to recreate various scenarios,  such as natural calamities.

UBCHEA organized the workshop that gathered participants from eight other Asian countries: China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Taiwan and Thailand.
