ImageThe Silliman Alumni Association, Inc. – Dumaguete Chapter is inviting fellow alumni and the Dumaguete community to a Flea Market for a Cause this Saturday and Sunday, October 25 – 26, 2014 at the Dumaguete Business Park, Dumaguete South Road (next to Robinson’s Mall).  Alumni Chapter President, Roberto D. Montebon said this 2-day event hopes to raise funds for the chapter’s projects and activities. Montebon enjoins the alumni and the general public to come to the Flea Market for an early Christmas shopping. This activity is in partnership with the Dumaguete Business Park, Inc.

ImageDUELING SINGERS HIGHLIGHT SILLIMAN GATHERING . Seasoned stage actor, Andy Bais, will match his vocal skills with tenor Dondi Ong, two-time Aliw Awardee as “Best Classical Male Performer” as they perform the famous Aria “O Sole Mio”; and lyric soprano Aileen Cura reunites with coloratura soprano Lisa Cabahug as they display vocal acrobatics in the OPM “Sa Kabukiran.” 

These two numbers will be the highlight of “LEVEL UP”, a Musical Celebration that covers OPM, Broadway, Classical and Inspirational genres to mark the induction of the new officers of SIMM (Sillimanians in Metro Manila) which includes many notable Filipinos, among them: actor Junix Inucian, jewelry and metal artist Ann Pamintuan, former National Treasurer and SU Board of Trustees Chair Prof. Leonor M. Briones, former Clark Development Chairman and current SU Trustee Atty. Felipe Antonio Remollo, “Bagong Bayani” awardee and OSA Dr. Perla Rizalina M. Tayko, Women’s Rights advocate and COA Commissioner Atty. Rowena Guanzon and recent OSA recipient Judge Jenny-Lind R. Aldecoa-Delorino.

Ed Dames, the newly-elected SIMM President whose company is behind many record-breaking events in the country, and who also organized the SU Family Games last August 26,  explains the rationale behind the event title: “We have evolved in terms of experience, network and useful abilities since we’ve left Silliman.  We also want to make our organization more relevant and appealing to all sectors among our constituents. The theme is both our statement and commitment to our Alma Mater.”

The SIMM Induction & Musical Celebration, produced by DTC and hosted by Silliman alumna, Claire Delfin of GMA-7, will be held on November 4 at the Taipan Place, Tower Club at the 33/F of Philamlife Tower, 8767 Paseo de Roxas Avenue in Makati with Senator Koko Pimentel as Inducting Officer. Alumni-artists Lloyd Young and Dr. Marl Ferenal will also be performing.  SU will be represented by Vice BOT Chair Candelario “Boy” V. Gonzales and Alumni Affairs Director Ruben “Bobot” N. Bokingo.
