SULAW is Country Rep in Hong Kong IHL Moot Court Competition

Silliman University emerged the champion in the national moot court competition on international humanitarian law held November 19 at the Supreme Court en banc session hall.

The final series saw the Silliman University College of Law moving up into the championship round to face off against the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law, leaving behind 12 other law schools.  

Silliman, composed of sophomore Micah Stefan Dagaerag and junior Bryce Tenorio, beat UP Law.

A panel of five headed by Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno judged the competition over the top spot.

Dagaerag and Tenorio will represent the Philippines in the international moot court competition in Hong Kong in March 2011.

Silliman also received the Best Mooter in the Final Round (Dagaerag), Best Mooter Award in in the General Rounds (Tenorio) and 2nd Best Mooter in the General Rounds (Dagaerag).

Atty. Sheila Catacutan-Besario, a Fulbright scholar in forensics law and a faculty at the College of Law, was the coach.  

The other members of the teams who served as researchers were Joshua Ablong, Karla Aguilan, Terrance Callao, Zara Dy, Kenny Hotingoy, Nathan Ramacho and Karissa Tolentino.
