The United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA) recently held a dinner in Boston on July 24, 2016 to honor the 2016 UB Fellows who had a meeting at Boston College. It was also a time to reconnect with alumni chapter members from the Silliman Association of New England (SANE). Other invited guests were United Board donors along with former missionaries and fraternal workers who have served in several Asian universities and colleges through United Board. In the photo are (from left to right) Atty. The Silliman University Alumni Association New York-New Jersey (SUAA NY-NJ) chapter will host a Gatsby Gala Dinner on September 24, 2016, 5pm at The Gatsby’s Mansion, 263 Prospect Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11215. This is to raise funds for the University’s renovation project of Guy Hall.

Guy Hall was built on March 1918 as a boy’s dormitory through the generous donation of William Guy of St. Louis Missouri. It was dedicated and named after his wife Kathryn Lemoine-Guy. The building later on became the offices of the Registrar and Admissions, Internal Audit, S.U. Press, and the Weekly Silliman office. It also used to be the home of the College of Mass Communication and the College of Performing and Visual Arts. Today, Guy Hall doubles as an academic facility and University Conference Center. The 10th International Conference on Philippine Studies was recently held at the said facility.

To support this cause, SUAA NY-NJ Chapter President Laura Garcia is inviting all chapter members, Sillimanians in the New York – New Jersey area and friends of Silliman, to actively support and be an important part of this event. Your presence will add color, pizzazz and commitment to the fete and your financial contribution will help the University’s project to renovate Guy Hall.
