Choristers Named Champion, Runner-up in Christmas Choir Tilt

Members of the Silliman University Campus Choristers (SUCC) won two major awards in a local Christmas choir competition on December 3.

Subgroups of the SUCC, the Deca Voce and Tentonics, respectively won the grand prize and first runner-up during the first CDO Himig Handog sa Pasko, A Capella Choir Competition held at Robinsons Place Dumaguete.

Aside from trophies and certificates, the two groups also received cash prizes that sum up to P45,000.

Their victory comes ahead of their holiday concert, a “rare treat” in time for the Christmas season. The Campus Choristers will be staging “Daygon: The Return of Glad Tidings” at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium next week, with College of Performing and Visual Arts faculty member Asst. Prof. Mark Ian Caballes conducting.

The concert will be staged twice: on Monday, December 12 at 8:00 PM (for Senior High School students), and Tuesday, December 13 at 8:00 PM (for gala season pass holders).
