CBA's Favorite Accountancy Professor is an Adventurous Family Woman

She is a mother of two beautiful girls with whom she loves to clown around. It's not a surprise for one to often find her with them when she's not busy with work. Reading a book or going on a nature trek are two other things that keep her occupied during a “me” time.

“I love weekends because I can spend more time with my children,” said the hands-on mother who treasures moments with her family. Among her favorites is reading a bedtime story to her 3-year-old daughter, Beatrice Katherine, whom she calls her “baby”.

Dean of the College of Business Administration Prof. Jane Annette Lupisan-Belarmino is better known as Jing-jing to her colleagues. She is a supportive mentor who never fails to show up at events where her college is a part of. Her teaching career in the University started in 1995 when she was taken in as an Instructor at the Accountancy Department. She eventually became Chairperson of the same department — a position she held for 10 years. In June 2010, she was appointed Dean. Professor Belarmino marks her 16th year of service in 2011.

Not known to many, Prof. Belarmino holds special interests in history, literature and theatre arts. She's fascinated with adventure movies and dreams of starring in one with her most admired actor, Harrison Ford.

Let’s get to know Ma'am Jing-jing more outside the four walls of the classroom.

ImageDescribe yourself in three words.
“Work in Progress.”

What is your mantra in life?
“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” I want the Lord to say this to me when my life is over.

What makes you laugh/cry?
My family and loved ones make me laugh.

What is your favorite time/day of the week and why?
Late afternoon, when a busy day is winding down, and I get to go out for a walk.
Before bedtime when I get to read stories for my baby.
I love weekends, because I can spend more time with my children.
I love going to church. It is a place where I am refreshed and convicted as well. Church reminds me of my weakness and the Lord’s love, faithfulness and strength.

What is your favorite thing to do when not working?
Reading books, clowning around my children.

What is your favorite hangout place in the University?
When I was a student, I spent plenty of time in the library. I like to stay in the amphitheatre, under the shade of acacia trees, with a good book.

 What makes you blush?
My boyfriend whom I married makes me blush.

If you were an actress, who would you be?
Harrison Ford’s leading lady in the Indiana Jones movies. Any actress in an adventure movie.

ImageWhat was you favorite game growing up?
Climbing trees and swinging from one branch to the next, pretending to be an explorer in our then “mini-jungle” of a yard.

What is your idea of a relaxing day?
Waking up late in the morning, spending time with my children, pottering around the house and garden, watching an adventure movie.

What is one thing people would be interested to know about you?
My students find my experiences (stories) working as an auditor interesting.

What song best describes YOU and the life you have now?
“Find us faithful,” by Steve Green. The songs talks about fulfilling God’s calling in our lives, and leaving a legacy for our children.

What is the first thing you do right after waking up in the morning?
Kiss my baby girl who sleeps beside me.

What’s your idea of a family?
Unconditional love and acceptance.
