Indeed, it is with great honor and privilege for Silliman University Medical School (SUMS) to host the 53rd APMC Annual Convention on February 5 to 7, 2020 at Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. Hence, may we invite you and your faculty, to attend this annual event with the theme entitled: THE ROLE OF MEDICAL SCHOOLS IN THE PHILIPPINES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE LAW (RA 11223), which is timely and relevant as far as the health care delivery system of our country is concerned.

The main objective of this convention will center on the role of medical schools and its constituents in the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law implementation in the Philippines.

Other specific objectives that will be discussed during the plenary sessions are the following:

  1. To discuss the promise of UHC as far as the intended outcomes in the Philippines.
  2. To describe the status of health human resources in the Philippines and identify gaps and needs for UHC implementation.
  3. To discuss the role of government agencies in UHC implementation.
  4. To present various models of training in primary care.
  5. To describe existing models of return service obligation and their outcomes

To present models of Inter-professional Education (IPE) in the medical curriculum.

Registration


Here are the registration details to guide you:

  1. Participation in the pre-convention will be limited to two (2) delegates per medical school. Participation in the main convention will be limited to ten (10) delegates per medical school:
    – Faculty participation only
    – Three (3) institutional delegates included

    * Some medical schools may not fully utilize the allotted slots, hence, may be shared by other schools that would request for additional slots. Special arrangement by email to the host school has to be made for proper facilitation.

  2. Registration will be opened on October 1, 2019 until December 12, 2019 through our official e-mail address: [email protected]

  3. Registration Rates
    Pre-registration:
    – Pre-Convention: Php 1,500 per delegate
    – Main Convention: Php 3,500 per delegate (including institutional delegates)Deadline of Registration may be extended if necessary but NO ONSITE REGISTRATION will be ALLOWED thereafter.

Warm greetings from the City of Gentle People!

Once again, we are pleased to inform you that the Silliman University Medical School (SUMS) will be hosting the 53rd APMC Annual Convention on February 5-7, 2020 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. The theme for this convention is: The Role of Medical Schools in the Philippines in the Implementation of Universal Health Care Law.

In line with this, we would like to invite your faculty members involved in medical research to submit the abstracts of their finished papers for selection of qualified entries based on the APMC guidelines (Please see attached documents).  Once selected, the full text manuscript will be required for prejudging using the criteria provided by the APMC guidelines. Once the paper is selected, the author will be officially notified that his/her paper qualified for both podium and poster presentation during the main annual convention. There will be no restrictions on the topics of the papers and the number of papers submitted so long as these were done within the past three years. Please email submissions to [email protected] on or before November 30, 2019.

Call for Abstracts for Faculty Research Paper Presentation

The 53rd APMC Annual Convention Research Committee invites authors to submit abstracts on completed researches. The paper can deal with basic science, biomedical, clinical and community research studies. Authors must follow the guidelines for submission of abstracts below. Abstracts not conforming to these guidelines will not be considered for poster presentation.

Authors of abstracts should be currently medical faculty of APMC member medical schools. The presenter should be one of the authors of the paper and should be ready to answer questions during the open forum after the presentations. Those papers that qualified for podium and poster presentations and all considered winners already. As proposed by the APMC Scientific Committee, there will be no more ranking of winners since the submitted topics may differ from each other in terms of scientific content and health applications. Hence, once the paper were peer reviewed by the local research experts and are selected for podium and poster presentation, these papers are all considered winners in their respective category.

Abstract Submission Deadline: November 20, 2019 at 5:00 P.M.

GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY POSTER EXHIBITS

I. Content of the Poster

  1. Title of Paper and Name/s of Author/s and Institution
  2. Background – brief description of the research
  3. Significance – brief form of the significance
  4. Objectives – General and specific objectives
  5. Methodology
  6. Result of the study
  7. Conclusion & Recommendation

II. Form of the poster

  1. Poster size – 3 feet width X 5 feet length
  2. Material – Tarpaulin is recommended
  3. The text should be easily read at one meter distance

III. Mounting of posters

  1. One poster panel will be assigned to each entry
  2. Each entry will be designated a number that has a corresponding poster panel number
  3. Participants should bring their own adhesives or necessary mounting materials
  4. The poster panel is made of steel

IV. Advisories

  1. Deadline for submission of abstract: November 30, 2019
  2. Qualified abstracts will be notified by email on or before December 10, 2019
  3. Deadline for submission of full paper of qualified abstracts: December 20, 2019
  4. Setting up of posters: February 5, 2020
  5. Poster Exhibition: February 6-7, 2020
  6. Podium Presentation: February 7, 2020 at 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.

VI. Please indicate the appropriate topic.

VII. The maximum length of the body of abstract is 250 words. Tables and/ or pictures are not accepted as part of the abstract.
