113th Founders Day Opening Service Set August 17

ImageMembers of both Silliman and the larger community of Dumaguete are all invited to the 113th Founders Day Opening Service on August 17, 9:30AM at the Silliman University Church.

The Service marks the start of the Founders Day festivities, although activities had started as early as the first day of August. (To view the Calendar of Activities, click: 113th Founders Day)

Divinity School professor Dr. Noriel C. Capulong is the Speaker. He reflects on this year's Founders Day theme: “Submitting to the Refiner's Fire.”

This year's Founders Day theme is inspired by two scriptures:

Malachi 3:1-4

For He will be like a refiner’s fire… and refine them all like gold and silver.”

1 Peter 1:6 -7

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
