Channon Hall wins first all-dorm caroling contest

Dormitory residents of Channon Hall won the first All-Dormitory Daygon Contest held last December 10 at Silliman University (SU) Church, with Woodward Hall placing second and Narra Cottage placing third, as announced by the University Spiritual Life Council.

Daygon is the Cebuano word for “Christmas Carol.”

Rev. Wella L. Hoyle of the SU Minister for Student and Campus Chaplaincy said the Channon Hall group impressed the judges with their good musicality and mastery of the songs they performed, which were “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Ania Kami.”

Meanwhile, residents of Woodward Hall and Narra Cottage also performed Christmas medlies; Rev. Hoyle said the judges were impressed with the Woodward Hall group’s mastery and projection while they commended the Narra Cottage group for their choreography.

The Channon Hall group took home a prize of PhP 5,000, while the Woodward Hall group won PhP 4,000 and the Narra Cottage group won PhP 3,000.

Dorm residents of Vernon Hall, Edith Carson Hall, Doltz Hall, and Honor Hall also participated in the contest. Each received a consolation prize of PhP 500.
