Vision
To become the leading institution in the region in providing quality medical education committed to produce competent physicians who are guided by Christian principles in the provision of excellent health care.

Mission
To produce medical graduates [a] who can excel in any of the responsible roles as health providers, teachers, researchers, administrators, and social mobilizers in the Philippine health care system; [b] who possess the necessary skills for a lifelong and self-directed learning; and [c] whose caring, compassion and social consciousness emphasize the quality of such education.

Philosophy
This medical education is committed to the development of physicians who maintain and promote the health of the community in line with changing medical needs and demands of the time in the pursuit of medical excellence.

Silliman University’s medical education is also committed to the development of educators who foster a student-centered learning process, who can upgrade such medical education, and who can serve as student models. The development of quality Christian education – as spelled out in the objectives of the School – is a commitment to excellence in the next millennium.

Objectives

  • To develop knowledgeable professionals who can define and manage the health problems of the patient, the family and the  community.
  • To nurture the creative thinking skills and problem-solving abilities of medical students.
  • To master the strategies for case analysis in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • To encourage student resourcefulness in data gathering and interpretation.
  • To foster leadership capabilities among the students as well as  enhance their active participation in a team of health care providers.
  • To encourage students into a lifelong and self-directed learning.
  • To inculcate in students the feelings of sensitivity, empathy and compassion in dealing with patients, relatives and colleagues in the health profession.
  • To promote ethical and moral values in the studentry.
  • To develop the students’ capability to use the holistic approach to patient care.

ADMISSION PROCESS

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS for SY 2024-2025

  1. The applicant must be a holder of any baccalaureate degree with GWAG (General Weighted Average Grade) of at least 85% or its equivalent (for SU graduate, at least 2.5 QPA).
  2. The applicant must have taken the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) with percentile rank of 60 or above with the validity of two (2) years.
  3. The medical school will start to accept and process applications of qualified students starting on March 1, 2024 (thru e-mail [email protected]) along with the other supporting documents . Deadline of submission will be July 31, 2024.
  4. The applicant must submit to the Medical School the following requirements* as scanned copies from the original file (List can be viewed at su.edu.ph under ‘Registrar & Admissions – Admission Procedures’):
    *E-MAIL THESE AS A ONE-PDF FILE FOLLOWING THE ORDER OF THE REQUIREMENTS AS LISTED BELOW. All documents must be in PORTRAIT format. PDF File name format: FAMILY NAME (in caps), Given Name MIDDLE NAME(in caps).

    1. Duly accomplished Application Form with latest passport-size picture (can be downloaded from the University website su.edu.ph under ‘Registrar & Admissions – Admission Procedures’)
    2. Official Transcript of Records showing completion of a degree course and GWAG (General Weighted Average Grade) of at least 85% or its equivalent (for SU graduate, at least 2.5 QPA). Attach an Honorable Dismissal/Transfer Credential if not a graduate of Silliman University.*For graduates of private schools, the transcript of record is validated by a Special Order from CHED. While graduate of public schools, authenticated copy of diploma or certificate of graduation must be presented.
    3. Certificate of percentage equivalent of GWAG (General Weighted Average Grade) of 85% or above from the Registrar’s Office if not a graduate of Silliman University
    4. NMAT Official Result with percentile rank of 60 or above (Secure 2 original copies – 1 for SU and 1 for personal file for PRC Board Exam use)*This must be the official copy of the result which they mail to the examinees. We will initially consider the NMAT electronic copy so you can comply with the requirements within the application period. We will still be requiring you to submit the original hard copy of the Official Result as soon as you received it my mail.
    5. Certificates of recommendation from two (2) professors in college Addressee:

    6. 3 Screenings of Hepatitis (any laboratory):
      • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Result
      • Antibody to Hepatitis B s Antigen Result
      • Total Antibody to HB c Antigen Result
    7. Psychological Exam Result (from any Testing Center or Clinic)* Also available at the Silliman University Guidance and Testing Center (please refer to “Psychological Test Procedure” below).Contact Person:

    8. Birth certificate issued by the NSO / PSA
    9. Barangay Clearance
    10. Recommendation letter from latest employer with the Company letterhead and contact details (if with Employment History)Addressee:

    11. COVID-19 Vaccination card/s (primary doses given, then include card for booster doses if given)
      *Only those with COMPLETE set or requirements will be evaluated on a first come first served basis. The deadline of submission is July 31, 2024.
  5. Must undergo a scheduled interview with the Admissions Committee as soon as requirements for admission are complied with.A Face-to-Face interview will be conducted for residents within Negros Oriental. On the other hand, residents outside Negros Oriental will have an online interview.
  6. The following students are not encouraged to apply:
    1. NMAT less than 60 percentile rank and General Weighted Average Grade (GWAG) of less than 85 percent.
    2. No NMAT result or has not taken the NMAT exam yet.
    3. Application for a lateral entry in any year level (not allowed or accepted).
    4. Those who failed in another medical school in the first year level (may apply if willing to go back to 1st Year Level).
  7. The decision of the Admissions Committee is final, and the applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application after the interview.

Note:

    • NMAT result validity is two (2) years only
    • Age limit for applicants is 40 yrs. Old

PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST PROCEDURE

  1. Kindly pay the Psychological Testing Fee of Three Hundred Fifty Pesos (Php P350.00) at the Business and Finance Office.
  2. Make sure that you pay the fee prior to taking the test. Ideally, pay the fee one (1) day prior to your chosen date.
  3. The test will start at exactly 8:30 A.M. Mondays to Fridays.
  4. Proceed to the Testing Center on the 3rd Floor, Oriental Hall.
  5. Bring an original copy of the receipt and a pencil.
  6. Your test results will be sent to you as soon as they become available.
