Former National Treasurer to Talk on Country’s Budget
Former National Treasurer Prof. Leonor Magtolis-Briones speaks to a group of students on the national budget and its implications on the local economy, on March 20 at the Multipurpose Room of the Instructional Media and Technology Center.
Titled “IskulBukol: 2014 National Budget and Implications for Negros Oriental”, Professor Briones' lecture also touches on related topics, such as the controversial Development Acceleration Program, and the budget for education, particularly those of state colleges and universities.
Professor Briones is a popular figure in public finance, often engaged by international development organizations for her expertise and interviewed by the media on issues involving government spending.
An alumna, awarded Outstanding Sillimanian in the field of Fiscal and Public Administration in 1982, Professor Briones currently sits as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Silliman University.
