‘Christmas Bells’ Ushers in the Holidays
To usher in the season of our Savior’s birth, the Central Philippine University (CPU) Handbell Ringers performed their holiday concert dubbed “Christmas Bells” last December 12 at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium.
The CPU Handbell Ringers was organized by American missionary Elizabeth Taylor in the 1970s. It is considered the first of its kind in the Philippines and is the only five-octave handbell choir in the country. In 2005, the Cultural Center of the Philippines made the group part of its Lakbay Sining Exchange Program. The group has performed in various concert venues around the country since then.
It is headed by Dr. Mai Lynn B. Jacar, director, and Hermely A. Jalando-on, adviser.
