Business Students Rank 3rd in HSBC Business Case Competition
A team from the College of Business Administration won third place during the 2015 Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Philippines Business Case Competition.
Ruby B. Bucita (BS Accountancy), Joben Vernan C. Cuenca (BBA Management), Dana Abigail C. Ferrer (BBA Management) and James Shemron C. Corro (BS Accountancy) also brought home a cash prize of P30,000.
They competed against teams from nine business schools around the country.
Teams of four competed against each other in business strategy and presentation for a total of two rounds. Each round featured a unique case, which the teams had to prepare for and defend in front of panelists assigned by HSBC.
Asst. Prof. Leonidas A. Cañete served as head coach of the Silliman team, with senior Accountancy student Dayle Danielle S. Casianan as student coach.
The University of the Philippines-Diliman ranked first. It will represent the Philippines in the HSBC Asia Pacific Business Case Competition in Hong Kong. Second was the University of the Philippines-Visayas (Iloilo).
