3 Junior High Archers Reap 11 Medals in National Games
Three archers from the High School Department bagged a total of three gold, seven silver and a bronze in the 2016 Palarong Pambansa held April 10 to 16 in Albay.
Nicole Marie Tagle led with a total of seven medals: two gold medals in the single FITA round and 50M, and a silver medal each in the 30M, 40M, 60M, Individual Olympic and Team Olympic rounds.
Teammates Ma. Ferimi Gleam Bajado clinched three: a gold in the 40M Round, a silver in the Team Olympic, and a bronze in the Individual Olympic Round; while Phoebe Nicole Amistoso raked in a silver in the Team Olympic event.
Both Nicole and Ferimi are incoming Grade 9 students; Phoebe is incoming Grade 10. They also carried the banner for the Negros Island Region (NIR) delegation, the first for the newly established region in the country composed of two provinces: Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.
NIR ranked sixth out of 18 regions. It tallied a total of 21 gold, 28 silver and 39 bronze.
Archery is among celebrated sports in the Silliman. The University has already produced a total of three Olympians: Jennifer Chan, Lisa Ygnalaga and Mark Javier.
