UK-Based Alumni Celebrate SU’s 110th Founders Day

Silliman alumni from all over United Kingdom gathered in Portsmouth on July 23 to 24 for the first tapUK.

tapUK is a play on the Visayan word “tapok“, which means gathering. It is the version of Tipon of the Silliman University Alumni Association in United Kingdom (SUAA-UK), bringing together fellow Sillimanians to rekindle memories of campus life in a festivity marked by fun activities, food and laughter.

Silliman University President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III, who was in the United Kingdom that time for the prestigious 6th International Conference on Environmental Future at Newcastle University, graced the event. He attended the SUAA-UK’s 80s-themed fellowship night organized by tapUK 2011 chairperson, Verlyn Jugar-Ganir. Portsmouth’s Lord Mayoress Cheryl Buggy and her Consort, Mr Andrew Fraser, were also among their guests.

Capping the celebration of the SUAA-UK of Silliman’s 110th Founders Day was a thanksgiving service led by Pastor Re Salomon at the garden of the Queens Hotel.

The president of the SUAA-UK is Aaron Bravo Gallo.  (Report by alumnus Junix Inocian)
