US State Department Officer Lectures on 'PowerPoint Crimes'

 An Information Resource Officer of the United States Department of State spoke on “PowerPoint Crimes Against Humanity” on October 18 at the American Studies Resource Center (ASRC) of the Robert B. and Metta J. Silliman Library.

The lecture in Silliman University of Ms. Myra Michele Brown, which delved on achieving effective information sharing using PowerPoint presentations, was part of her itinerary in the Philippines and visit to the ASRC.

Ms Brown is currently assigned in Jakarta, Indonesia, her third overseas regional posting, after Africa and Europe. Before joining the Department of State, she worked for around 11 years at the New Mexico State University and Texas Tech University.

Silliman is one of few universities in the Philippines hosting an ASRC. Located on the ground floor of the Silliman Library, the ASRC is open to the public for free and features a wealth of knowledge resources in printed, online and multimedia formats that promote the American way of life.

Ms Brown was in Silliman with an officer of the United States Embassy in Manila, Dr. Reysa Alenzuela, Director of the Thomas Jefferson Information Center, who also delivered a lecture on “Creating Engaging Programs in Libraries.”

Librarians from different private and public schools in Negros Oriental comprised the audience of the lectures of both Ms Brown and Dr. Alenzuela.
