Pan Hellenic Society donates to Ariniego Art Gallery
The Pan Hellenic Society donated 20 percent of its proceeds from the Plate Movement 2019 art workshop to the Silliman University (SU) Romeo P. Ariniego Art Gallery. The amount was turned over to SU last April 15 at the office of the Vice President for Development Jane Annette L. Belarmino.
Plate Movement 2019 was a plate painting and embellishing activity organized by the SU Fine Arts department, Pan Hellenic Society, and Alima Cafe Cooperation. It was held Feb. 23 at the Ariniego Art Gallery to raise funds for pediatric patients undergoing cancer therapy under the care of Dr. Shiela Marie P. Flores, a Dumaguete-based hema-oncologist. The artworks were then exhibited at the Gallery and at Alima Cafe Feb. 28 and were up for auction until March 28.
Aside from the 20 percent given to the Ariniego Art Gallery, 40 percent of the net proceeds went to the individual artists and 40 percent were given to the beneficiaries.
