SU CMC to unveil Wall of Fame, set up community journalism trust fund

The Silliman University (SU) College of Mass Communication (CMC) will unveil its Wall of Fame and set up a trust fund for community journalism on August 26, 2022 as it celebrates SU’s 121st founding anniversary.

Dr. Madeline Quiamco, CMC dean, said the Wall pays tribute to CMC’s outstanding alumni, honor graduates, and pioneer faculty members and administrators.

Meanwhile, the Memorandum of Agreement to set up the Ireneo and Asuncion Maslog Trust Fund for Community Journalism will be signed by the donor, Dr. Crispin C. Maslog, and SU president Dr. Betty Cernol-McCann.

Maslog is the first regular director of the CMC, formerly the School of Journalism and Communication.

The College will also give its homecoming jubilarians (Batch 1972) special recognition on their 50th anniversary.

In another event to start at 11 a.m., two distinguished CMC alumni who are now in the higher echelons of government service will share their experiences and insights. They are Asst. Secretary Kira Christianne Dañganan-Azucena (BMC 1994, magna cum laude), Asst. Secretary of the Office of the United Nations and International Organizations, Department of Foreign Affairs; and Asst. Secretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay (BMC 1993, cum laude) of the Bureau of Local Employment, Department of Labor and Employment.

The events on August 26 will start at 9 a.m. and will be held at the Multipurpose Room and the Audio-Visual Theater of the IMTC.
