Five faculty members from the Physics Department of the SU-Senior High School presented their technical papers and research work at the 42nd -46th Annual National Physics Seminar Workshop/Convention on May 23-26, 2024, at Siquijor State College, Larena, Siquijor Province.

Asst. Prof. Joshua S. Soldivillo presented his paper on the development of a teaching-learning sequence on tension force using bridging analogies; Ms. Floreen Grace P. Estrada talked about the effect of REACT strategy on senior high school students’ conceptual understanding of Newton’s laws of motion; Mr. David B. Ragudo shared about the art of teaching physics, focusing on adapting methods for non-STEM students; Ms. Sheena Louise P. Nodado talked about the use of simulation-based learning in exploring energy forms, changes, and systems; and Mr. Jirah Kim R. Quinamot presented the role of physics in environmental preservation, exploring the use of electroresistivity data in determining water-holding capacity and vulnerability of subsurface.

With the theme, “PPS@50: Facing Global Challenges with Physics and Sustaining Services for God, Country, Community and Persons,” the convention aimed to provide a platform for professionals in the field of Physics and Physics Education to improve physics teaching and learning as well as contribute physics-based solutions for national societal concerns in environment and industry.

The four-day seminar-workshop featured keynote speeches and research presentations of national figures in Physics, which included Dr. Gerardo C. Maxino, founder of the Philippine Physics Society; and Dr. Vangeline Kinilitan-Parami, DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute Head for Licensing, Review, and Evaluation.

The 42nd-46th Annual National Physics Convention was organized by Siquijor State College and the Philippine Physics Society. It was attended by Physics teachers and researchers around the country.
