SUSBE gears up for MATATAG curriculum implementation

The Silliman University (SU) School of Basic Education conducted an in-service training for its faculty members on June 10, 11, and 13, 2024 at the SU Hall, Guy Hall, and Early Childhood campus to prepare them for the phased implementation of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) MATATAG curriculum.

All teachers from Kindergarten to Junior High School, as well as High School subject area coordinators, attended the training, which featured several plenary sessions.

Among the featured sessions were Overview of the MATATAG curriculum given by Asst. Prof. Dubhe F. Estallo, principal of SU Elementary and Lesson Exemplar Writer of DepEd’s Matatag Curriculum Pilot Implementation Program;  Overview of Makabansa, shared by Dr. Jennifer Relasa, DepED Supervisor); Unpacking the Curriculum, facilitated by Mr. Renelito C. Caballo, faculty member of SUJHS and Lesson Exemplar Writer of DepEd’s Matatag Curriculum Pilot Implementation Program; Review on Unpacking the Curriculum, given by Asst. Prof. Kristine N. Busmion, principal of SUJHS and Lesson Exemplar Writer of DepEd’s Matatag Curriculum Pilot Implementation Program; and The Kindergarten Curriculum, shared by Dr. Sophia Tundag, DepEd supervisors.

Launched on August 10, 2023, “MATATAG” stands for “MAke the curriculum relevant to produce job-ready, active, and responsible citizens; TAke steps to accelerate the delivery of basic education services and provision facilities; TAke good care of learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusiveness learning, and positive learning environment; and Give support for teachers to teach better.”

The new curriculum roll out begins SY 2024-2025.
