SU Mass Com alumna appointed UP Diliman College of Media and Communication Dean

Alumni Update March 31 – April 6, 2025

Dr. Ma. Diosa V. Labiste, a 1985 Bachelor of Mass Communication graduate from Silliman University (SU), was appointed Dean of the newly-renamed College of Media and Communication at UP Diliman by the University of the Philippines (UP) Board of Regents on March 27, 2025. She will be serving a three-year term as Dean.

Dr. Labiste is a faculty member in the journalism program of the UP College of Mass Communication. She earned her doctorate from the University of Birmingham, U.K.

In 2008, she was a recipient of the Marshall McLuhan Award, a travel study tour given by the Canadian Embassy. The following year 2009, Dr. Labiste received the prestigious Jaime V. Ongpin Award for Excellence in Journalism.
