
SU hosts Conservation Genomics Colloquium 2025
Silliman University (SU), in collaboration with the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and the Philippine Genome Center (PGC), hosted a press conference on April 15, 2025, unveiling the draft whole genome sequence of the Visayan Spotted Deer (Rusa alfredi)—an achievement by an all-Filipino research team completed in under a year. Hosted by SU’s Angelo King Center for Research and Environmental Management (SUACKREM) and the Biology Department, the event gathered over a thousand participants both online and onsite.
