Statement of the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ACSCU) on the May 2025 Midterm Elections
As the May 2025 midterm elections draw near, the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ACSCU) calls upon all Filipinos — especially our students, educators, and alumni — to exercise their sacred right to vote with discernment, integrity, and a commitment to the common good.
Entrenched in our Christian faith values, ACSCU member-institutions uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ, who exemplified servant leadership, compassion for the marginalized, and a steadfast pursuit of peace that is based on justice. In this spirit, we urge the electorate to:
- Support Transparent and Accountable Governance for the Public Interest
Support candidates who advocate for policies that uplift the poor, promote and protect the general interest and welfare of the Filipino people, protect human rights, promote environmental stewardship, and support the educational agenda for the common good of our students. - Assess Candidates by Their Character, Not Their Charisma
Choose leaders who demonstrate honesty, humility, and a genuine commitment to serving the people. We should avoid candidates who seek office for personal gain or who engage in deceptive practices and attack record of service and integrity. - Reject Vote-Buying and Corruption
Turn away from all forms of electoral malpractice, including vote-buying and vote-selling, which undermine the democratic process and perpetuate injustice. - Engage in Prayer and Reflection
Join prayer rallies and other faith-based activities to reflect on the moral responsibility of voting and to uphold the integrity of your choice.
In this important engagement, let us embody the teachings of Christ by choosing leaders who reflect His values. May our votes be guided by love, justice, and a deep commitment to the flourishing of our nation. (Psalm 33:12 – “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.”)
