Organized by the Council of Marketing Educators (CME) in partnership with Saint Paul University Manila, the national two-day summit carried the theme “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Purpose-Driven Marketing Education.” It convened marketing students, educators, and industry leaders from across the country to promote sustainability, innovation, and transformative leadership in marketing education.

Lagunay, a senior BSBA Marketing Management student at SU, was recognized for his exceptional leadership in sustainability-focused initiatives. Among his many advocacies are the Zero Waste Island Project in Bohol, the Zero Waste Schools Dumaguete Network, and his work as Vice President for Development of Zero Waste Youth Negros Oriental and a Council Member of the National Anti-Poverty Commission – Youth and Students Sectoral Council.

A consistent advocate of purpose-driven marketing, Lagunay has earned national and international accolades, including the Go Green with Taiwan Global Winner Award, a Young Farmers Challenge Provincial Winner, and 3rd Place in both the 32nd Agora Youth Awards and First Gen’s Code Green for climate innovation.
The CME Extra Mile Award for Outstanding Educator and Student is one of the most prestigious recognitions in marketing education, honoring individuals who exemplify sustainability, creativity, and leadership aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. For 2025, only five students nationwide were selected, including Lagunay, Ryan Espino Acosta (Mary the Queen College), Michael C. Lagaya (Batangas State University), Ma. Reina Ayende-Mabeza (Camarines Norte State College), and Prof. Jerry C. Cocabo-Yao (St. Scholastica’s College).
