SU to host 57th APMC Convention

Silliman University (SU), through its Medical School (SUMS), is set to host the 57th Annual Convention of the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC) from June 23 to 25, 2025, bringing together medical educators, academic leaders, and policymakers from across the country for three days of exchange, collaboration, and innovation.

With the theme “Championing Innovative Practices in Medical Education for a Healthier Future,” the convention will be held at various venues on the SU campus, including the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium for plenary sessions, the Silliman University Gymnasium for meals and social gatherings, and the Robert B. and Metta J. Silliman Library for digital research poster presentations.

The convention aims to present groundbreaking strategies in curriculum design, assessment, faculty development, and student well-being, and to enable institutions to share best practices that respond to current and emerging challenges in healthcare education.

APMC President Dr. Rey H. De Los Reyes, Executive Director Dr. Ramon L. Arcadio, and SUMS Dean Dr. Walden R. Ursos will lead the opening ceremony on June 24, along with SU President Dr. Betty Cernol-McCann. A highlight of the plenary is the Dr. Elena Inés-Cuyegkeng Memorial Lecture, to be delivered by Dr. Lulu C. Bravo, Professor Emeritus at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine.

Across five major scientific sessions, speakers will cover a wide range of topics such as integrative curriculum models, community-oriented medical education, artificial intelligence in teaching, and programs that promote resilience among medical students. Among the featured institutions are Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines School of Health Sciences, University of Santo Tomas, and La Consolacion University Philippines.

The convention will also feature digital poster presentations and opportunities for networking, culminating in a closing ceremony and dinner on June 25.

SU’s hosting underscores its ongoing commitment to academic leadership and innovation in health professions education.
